Why are collective movements so strong nowadays?

In the last few years, there have been an increasing number of collective or communal movements. Rallies in the '60s, '70s and '80s were all about politics, the 'haves' and the 'have-nots' and democracy. Nowadays movements are less about political divides. In the USA, Russia, UK, parties have merged into a central ground.

People from all walks of life are starting to rally around a neglected cause or have been touched by a major event in personal way on a very large scale. The most obvious occasion was the death of Diana, Princess of Wales - where the widespread grief was unprecedented. But there are many movements that cut across social divisions, like the Promise Keepers - an all male gathering last year in Washington DC. The agenda was reaffirming the the father's traditional role in the family. In the UK we now have marches and rallies in support of the countryside. What is so strange about these movements is that in all cases it involves silent majorities who don't normally express their feelings publicly.

The astrological significator for this trend, which will continue into the Millenium, is that that the outer planets Neptune and Uranus are now in the collective sign of Aquarius. As a result more impersonal, social issues are brought to our attention. In addition Pluto in Sagittarius is stoking up cultural, religious and philosophical prejudices.
